Gavin has had a few soccer games and he seems to have
enjoyed playing. I think he sees it as
more of a social event but it is good to get him out with other kids. At this point I think it is all about having
fun and trying new things so he can decide what he’s interested in. We haven’t had a warm and sunny game since
April 7. They’ve been cold, damp, and
last week we had freezing rain. Yuck!

We think it is ironic that the field Gavin plays at has a
billboard with his favorite restaurant on it across the street.
Coach Jeremy talking to Gavin and also note the large
umbrella and two people in jackets in the background.

Before every game they have a brief practice. Aunt J and Uncle Jay came to watch the game
with me on this particular Saturday.
This is not the pee pee dance, it’s the freezing cold
dance. It was a whopping 38 degrees.
I put his fleece back on him and he wore it the entire
game. During his breaks he would hide
under this warm blanket.

Last weekend was no better in the weather department. Initially it seemed warmer but by the time we
left, the freezing rain was pelting the players and parents and it was cold!
Abby wanted to run up and down a nearby hill. We had a hard time keeping her away from it.
Gavin gave the ball a good kick back in bounds.
During the first rain/freezing rain shower the coaches put
up this tent and during breaks the players huddled under it.
By the time the game was over the little ice balls were
really coming down and everyone was saying, “Ouch! Ouch!” Gavin and I ran to the car where we could get
warm!
Gavin will miss the
game this week thanks to some unexpected work conflicts. Ahem, thank you Mr. President. However, we are hoping that the last two
games of the season for him are at the very least warmer and if we are lucky,
we’ll see the sun.

We celebrated Brandon’s birthday last week.
Gavin picked out a Thor birthday card and was so excited to
give it to him. On the way to Hallmark
Gavin told me he wanted something to pop out of the card like an explosion or
fireworks. He found this card and Thor’s
hand pops up when you open it so it was to Gavin’s satisfaction.
Gavin picked out a video game for a birthday gift. He selected Family Game Night for XBOX. He was very excited and told me that Daddy’s
mouth was going to drop open.
Abby couldn’t wait to help Daddy unwrap his other gift.
The kids worked on a happy birthday sign together.
I baked Brandon’s favorite cake.
Abby sang the happy birthday song in the cutest little
voice. Since Brandon’s birthday she will
occasionally burst out in song and sing, “Happy birthday to you!”
Last weekend we celebrated our seventh anniversary and
completed Abby’s room along with some other projects around the house while the
kids stayed with my parents. I will post
a blog of before and after pictures soon!
Have a great weekend!
