Easter was a busy day!
We started off searching for Easter baskets in the morning.
Abby was thrilled to find…this black box that has been in
the drawer for years now. Apparently she
wasn’t getting the idea of looking for an Easter basket. Gavin had not yet noticed his basket which
was sitting directly to his left in the basket under the table.
He finally looked left and caught sight of the basket. Abby was a little confused. She was excited about Gavin’s basket and
seemed to think it was something for them to share. We had to help her understand she needs to
look for her own.
Brandon was helping Abby come up with ideas on places to
look. Under the table…
…in the toy box…
…outside the front door…
…finally in the hall closet.
Gavin was more than “helpful” and sort of found the basket for her. When I say he “sort of," I mean he
opened the door and said, “HEY Abby look!”
Abby needed to address the important things first. Things like…candy. She wanted candy so badly that she couldn’t
care less about anything else in her basket.
She was so mad that I wouldn’t open her candy that she threw quite a
fit.
Gavin got an R2D2 that makes fun noises. He has been on a Star Wars kick lately. Don’t mind the cat in the background with the
Easter grass sticking out of his mouth.
After this picture I promptly chased him around the room trying to get
it back before we ended up with another “Great Ribbon Incident of 2008.” You don’t even want to know.
Once the fit was over, Abby methodically removed the rest of
her items from her basket. She was
probably looking for more candy.
Gavin with another of his recent favorite things, Legos!
After the basket search and breakfast we went to
church. Service was an hour and a half
long. While a lovely service, it was a
bit long for two antsy pants kids who wanted to go home and search for Easter
eggs.
Gavin was quickly on the hunt for eggs.
Abby was hunting too.
The only problem was her brother was running around snatching up all of
the eggs that the Easter bunny left in lower places for the little sister
making her hunt a bit more challenging.
Mocha was a great help, of course.
They both looked so cute in their Easter outfits.
Guess what happened when Gavin knocked this egg into his
basket? The egg broke open. So naturally what’s the next thing for a kid
to do with an open egg and candy in the bottom of the basket?
Stuff his mouth full of candy!
In fact, they both ended up with some open eggs and candy
rolling around their baskets. They both
filled up their little mouths with all kinds of sugary goodness.
After the hunt they took stock of their loot and ate more
candy of course.
It was such a beautiful day we took the kids outside for
some pictures with our spring blooms.
We had a great afternoon of family time, cleaning out Abby’s
closet in preparation for turning her room into a big girl room, and a
delicious family dinner.
Hope everyone’s Easter was just as happy!
