To the pumpkin farm

We had a perfect day for pumpkin picking this month.  I think it was the first year in a while we were able to go without jackets while wearing short sleeves or shorts.  There were a few peeks of sun and the air was fresh.  We took the usual hayride, fed the animals, and of course picked out pumpkins.  Enjoy some pictures from our great afternoon out!

Every year we sit in the same spot on the wagon and every year we get folks across the way to take our picture.  It has been fun to see the differences in the pictures from year to year.  Two years ago Abby wasn’t in the picture, a year ago she was in a Baby Bjorn, and this year she’s stealing popcorn out of her brother’s bag of popcorn right over his shoulder.  Gavin has of course grown with each passing year and looks much more like a big boy and much less like a baby with each year.

Gavin loves popcorn.  Abby isn’t technically supposed to eat it without being concerned about potential choking issues and such.  The farm always has kettle corn available and as soon as Gavin saw the bags lined up on the table where we bought our hayride tickets, he had to have some popcorn!

“Where’s my ‘nack???”  Abby doesn’t say “snack.”  She says “nack” and when she wants a “nack” one had better get said “nack” ready.  Quickly.  Don’t even consider giving her something she doesn’t want.  The screams of “No no no!” will certainly echo through the house.  She has a mind about things and wants it all her way.

So I guess we shouldn’t have been surprised when this happened.  Note the casual off in the distance gaze as if she’s focused on something else while her  little hand reaches over her brother’s shoulder to try and sneak some popcorn.

“Hey!  What’s that over there?  Maybe they won’t notice if I keep them distracted.”

In for another snag of popcorn.  Sneaky little girl.  Needless to say she ate the popcorn under supervision and had no issues.

Daddy took a turn helping the kids pick out a couple of pumpkins.  Gavin tried to put his big sports guy muscles to work.  For those who don’t know, he calls himself a “sports guy”.

The kids helped direct daddy to where the pumpkins needed to go.

Off to the weighing area with two helpers at the ready.

And finally, after the popcorn, hayride, and selection of pumpkins…we fed the animals.

We’ve enjoyed the fall season so far, even with how busy we’ve been.  Next up…a fall visit to Hocking Hills.
