Dad/Grandpa and Aunt Ashley came in for Gav's birthday party. They both arrived on Thursday. After Dad arrived he got to work with Brandon on the projects around the house.

Gav was so eager to help his Daddy and Grandpa. He was handing tools to them and overseeing operations. It was too cute to not include for all to see.
The Party
The birthday boy! His shirt says: "Two's aren't terrible! I'm having a blast!"

Gavin with Cate and Landon. He didn't eat very long. He wanted to get up and go play. Fella couldn't stand to not see what everyone else was up to.

Gav and Daddy showing muscles.

Ahhhh yes...opening presents. I believe that by the end, I was the one doing most of the opening. Here Riley is helping Gav open the gift from her. She wanted to help open all of the gifts and really I didn't mind seeing as Gav wasn't interested in opening them himself. He loved the toys of course, he just didn't want to tear off all the paper to get to them.
Gavin on his tricycle from Grammy and Poppy. He loves it! He hasn't quite figured out how to ride it yet but he does like it.

The loot is piling up!!! Boy has mommy got a lot of thank you cards to write! :)

Here we've enlisted Grammy's help in opening the gifts. I was tired and Gav was wandering off. So, we introduced a fresh face to gift opening and he re-engaged. Grandpa got him the water table and he loves it. The kid loves water for some reason. He can't get enough. You can't even turn on the sink without a near melt down over touching the water!

Here we are doing the whole cake and singing thing. Gav blew out all his candles by himself. The most important part of this picture though is that Aunt J, Grammy, Poppy, and Nana are in it. I didn't do a good job of taking pictures of everyone so I don't have a lot of pics with them in it. This isn't that bad of a shot though. Hey everybody: Send me your pics! :)

We had an Elmo themed party. He likes Elmo and Mickey but we figured he'd be into Mickey longer than Elmo so we might as well cash in on the Elmo party this year. The bakery that makes this cake has the BEST buttercream icing.

Gav and Riley enjoying some cake.

Jackson and Caleb also enjoying cake.

Gav and Aunt Ashley.

Gav on his new climber. He loves climbing up and "driving." We're working on the picking up of the feet when he slides down.
The Birthday
We had some trouble figuring out what to do for fun for Gav's birthday. We weren't sure what he'd be really excited about. We decided to take him to the Conservatory so he could feed the fish. We got there and it was closed. We had also decided to take him to OSU so he could see for himself all the sights that are in his Brutus book. He loves water and fountains. He also likes being able to walk around all over the place. Above, he's at Mirror Lake.

Gav checking out his first Buckeye Tree.

Gav and Daddy
After our trip to OSU we went home and Gav took a nap. When he got up we played outside for a bit. We couldn't decide what to make for dinner. I didn't know what a 2 year old would deem "special" for his birthday dinner, or if he even cared at all. But, when the prospect of pizza came up he was very excited. "Gav would you like pizza for dinner?" "COME TOO!" he yelled. He was thrilled to get a pizza and go with mommy to pick it up.

Opening more presents!!! He was rather excited at the prospect of opening more presents. After his experience on Saturday I guess he knew what he needed to do so he was into it this time.

He was thrilled that he got to blow out more candles. "Blow out!" he says. Except, on this day he didn't want to blow them out. He just wanted to look at them. Oh, and we all had to wear party hats. So Gav, mommy, and daddy sang wearing our party hats!

Post cake. He didn't get too messy but he certainly enjoyed himself.
The End.
