Happy Father's Day!!! Gav is Daddy's #1 Fan!!!

Ahhh yes, boy in bathtub...the pictures with which to torture him when he's older. Cute as they may be, the best part is in the story as to why we were having this quick bath in the middle of the afternoon. We were playing outside and on this particular day it was rather warm. I sun screened him up and put on his hat so he wouldn't get burned. I lugged all of his sports toys outside for him to play with. But, what did he end up playing with? Dirt. Go figure. He removed his hat and I saw him picking grass and putting it in the hat. I told him to dump the hat and put it back on. He did. But the little sneak filled it up with more grass and dirt when I wasn't looking and then dumped it on the deck. You know, our freshly stained deck. Anyway, I told him he needed to wear his hat so he put it back on. I had assumed that since he dumped the hat the dirt was out of it. I was very wrong. When he put the hat back on I saw dirt fall out of it. I went over and took off his hat to see just how much dirt was on his head. A lot of dirt. I tried to brush it out with my fingers to no avail. I mentioned earlier that it was rather warm on this particular day. Gav's head was sweaty and now caked with dirt. His hair is getting a little long so it was even more difficult to try to brush the dirt out. Inside for a bath we went. Even while rinsing his head I had a hard time getting all the dirt out. I scrubbed and scrubbed until I finally fashioned his hair into a stunning mohawk. In the end, no more dirt. But we sure had fun getting there!

One morning last week I went to get Gavin out of bed. From the get go he wanted his Buckeye hat on. We took it downstairs and I sat him in his chair while I prepared his breakfast. At some point he turned it around backwards. While buttering his toast I turned around to look at him as he was chattering away. There was this crazy flash forward moment to one day when he's about 14 sitting at the kitchen table for breakfast with his hat on backwards. Hopefully by then he'll be sans sippy cup and booster seat.

I was trying to take some pictures of the first rose I cut off my rose bush this season. The poor thing got stunted by a butterfly bush last year and I dug it up and moved it this Spring. So far it's growth is greatly improved but this is the only bloom I've gotten yet. It was just so pretty I had to take some photos of it. Gav decided he too needed to be involved. Unfortunately I focused on the flower not Gavin so he's a little blurred. I had been taking some macro shots of the rose and didn't have the flash on. Oh well, it's cute anyway.
A few other notes of interest:
6/19/09 Gav did his first poop on the potty. Unlike with the first pee on the potty I elected to spare the viewing audience a picture of his poo.
6/26 - 6/27/09 Gav's first night sans pacifier. He's not been allowed to have it outside of nap and bed time. At his 18 month visit the pediatrician said it was fine if he had it during those times. At his 2 year appointment on Friday she said it's probably time to go cold turkey and get rid of it. We decided to give it a try. He asked for it a few times but I was able to get him to bed without too much trouble. The doctor said to just tell him that she said he can't have it anymore. So, I told him he's a big boy and the doctor got rid of it for him. It'll suffice for now.
