Last week Abby went to preschool open house to meet her
teachers and check out her classroom.
“Mom, enough with the pictures; let’s go!”
She sat down and played with the play doh for a bit. Her new teachers joined her and talked with
her for a while. I think they were
surprised at how well she carries on a conversation.
She was excited to see a fish tank in her classroom. She tried to count the fish but they kept
moving. I think she ended up counting
many more fish than were actually in the tank.
The dollhouse was a hit and I could barely pull her away to
continue checking out the rest of the classroom.
We made a stop at the science table.
Abby was excited to see the play kitchen area. She loves to play with her kitchen at home.
The fluid table was great fun too. I remember Gavin was also a big fan of
playing with the fluid table. Throughout
the school year the teachers will change the materials in the table to give the
kids new experiences.
Of course our final stop was the restroom to try out the kid
sized sink and potty. Abby was thrilled
to see that the fixtures were just right for her size.
Abby didn’t want to leave.
She wanted school to start right then.
Unfortunately she had to wait a week.
That brings us to Thursday of this week for her first day of preschool.
Daddy made her a big breakfast to get the day started right.
Abby went to the bus with Gavin and she insisted on wearing
her backpack. We left to take her to
school right after Gavin got on the bus.
Happy first day of preschool!
Abby couldn’t wait to get inside. She kept talking about being late and no
matter how many times we assured her that she was not late she was still
concerned she wouldn’t get to school in time.
She picked out her Merida backpack. It’s about half the size she is!
After waiting a few minutes it was time to go into her
classroom. She had to pick the clothespin
with her name on it and place it on her teacher’s necklace.
She went right into her classroom without any problem. There were no tears or begging for us not to
leave her. She had business to attend to
and didn’t want us in her way.
Her teacher said all of the kids had a great day. They were calm, happy, and no tears from any
of them.
Time to head home!
Abby walked in the door and sat on the floor next to the dog
bed. She didn’t even make it around to
the couch. Poor girl was worn out!
She didn’t want to sit up to take a picture with her art
work. She did a great job on her rainbow
project.
For a look back three years to remember Gavin’s first day
and see Abby at 6 months click here.
We are officially immersed into the school year with both
kids. It looks like Gavin is going to
join Cub Scouts. He’s never been so
excited to join a group or do an activity in his life. He wants to do “boy stuff!”
Have a great weekend!
