Surprise! A new blog
post! Here’s another surprise…we’ve been
busy! See? I’m just full of surprises!
A few weeks ago we took the kids to the circus for the first
time.
Abby was completely in awe! She cheered, clapped, and danced.
Julianne and Jay came to the circus as well. Julianne was so excited for her first circus!
The situation with the big cats was tense at times . On a few occasions they seemed feistier than
they should have been. I don’t know if
it was part of the show or if there were some temper issues. At one point the trainer was backed up into
the cage wall by one of cats. I suppose it
isn't surprising that when you antagonize the cats they get a bit cranky.
These girls literally hung from their hair. They did some crazy stuff including clipping
themselves together by the clips in their hair and spinning around up in the
air.
The show was enjoyable but the circus always makes me feel a
little strange. I feel bad for all the
animals living that kind of life and then I feel guilty for supporting it with
the money spent on the circus. There are
the animal activists outside and then when you go into the venue Barnum and
Bailey staff have big handouts about how active they are in animal
conservation. It’s just weird.
The show they have going right now is a dragon theme. At the end of the show the dragons came
out. The kids loved the dragons.
B and the kids came to visit me on Mother’s Day!
Gavin finished up soccer and has started t-ball. For a couple weeks we had twice a week t-ball
practice, soccer practice, and a couple of soccer games so it was one thing
after another and sometimes two sports on the same day.
Poor shot composition but I was trying to snag the photo
quick so I could get Gav in the “Pop” stance.
Good game!
After their last game the kids received their soccer
trophies.
The parents had them line up for one last team photo.
We finally reached the end of a long, interesting soccer
season.
Gavin’s first t-ball game was Monday.
They are actually playing t-ball but they try coach pitch
first. If the kids aren’t hitting the
ball they will pull out the tee.
I think he was a bit nervous during his first time at bat so
he ended up using the tee. They tagged
him out at first.
Truth be told, I think he was just stretching during his
first time in the outfield. But, it was
more fun to caption it with, “Please let me catch it!”
I love these pictures of the kids on the bench.
Their feet can’t reach the ground.
For Gavin’s second time at bat he connected with the ball on
coach pitch and got on base.
He’s on second!
Rounding third! He
made it home but I was too busy yelling at him that he had to go for home base
and couldn’t just run right off behind the backstop to drop his helmet so I
didn’t get the shot of him getting home.
Abby snacked and played with a friend she has made in
another little sister whose big brother is on Gavin’s team.
Gavin seems to enjoy t-ball more than he does soccer. We’ll see how the rest of the season
goes. By the end of the season in early
July he may not like t-ball so much anymore.
Gavin’s last time getting off the school bus as a
kindergartner! His last day is Tuesday
but they are dismissing early and I’ll be there for his graduation and end of
year party so I’ll just drive him home.
Finally, I caught the two of them in the toy box the other
day. As one can see, they emptied the
entire toy box and climbed in. I can’t
understand how this is more comfortable than our couch but I’m also not three
or five years old.
In between all of that fun stuff we've had work, training,
planting of gardens, yard work, playing outside, enjoying the company of good
friends, and on and on and on. The
summer will march on like this until at least mid-June. Gavin has basketball camp, soccer camp,
possibly VBS, Dino camp, and we are all going on vacation. Abby starts dance in just over a week so that
will be on the agenda also. With any
luck Abby can do VBS also if we get her potty trained. We've made progress again and are headed in
the right direction. She’s a strong
willed child and dog gone it, she will not do something if it is not on her
terms!
I can’t think of anything else to report at this point. As always my hope is to have less sporadic
posts but who knows anymore. Have a
wonderful weekend!
