As I watched Gavin do his homework on Wednesday, I felt
inspired to take some pictures. He
seemed so focused and interested in what he was working on. He had so much pride in the art he was adding
to his poetry pages.
Most nights feel like a fight to get through homework. Although it took a few minutes to get settled
in on Wednesday morning, once Gavin was started on something that interested
him he was focused.
Gavin drew three ships on his Columbus Day poem. One of them has quite a tall mast!
Abby kept herself busy in the office cooking up the
alphabet.
She took a break from cooking to take pictures with me.
Peek-a-boo Elmo!
Abby wasn’t interested in photo taking with me for
long. She took her letters and hid behind
the door. “Shhh! No pictures!” She was not interested in letting me take any
more pictures of her.
Gavin finished up his homework and came to disrupt the
peace see what Abby was doing. Don’t
mind the bit of red marker on his lip.
He became a little excited with smelling the scented markers.
I love the catchlights in his eyes. He looks so serious here.
There’s the goofy grin he usually gives me when I try to
take pictures of him.
And we’re back to serious.
Some pictures happen completely by accident. Abby peeked out from behind the door and I
hit the shutter button just in time. I
didn’t take time to compose, I didn’t take time to focus, and I just hit the
button and hoped something good came of it.
While not as sharp a photo as I would like, I think it still turned out
nicely.
As for what Abby was doing behind the door, she finally
opened the door and revealed her masterpiece.
She sorted her letters into color groups. Impressive for a two year old, I think.
Have a great weekend!
