Gav enjoying his pool and water table on a hot July afternoon. We have yet to blow up the big pool he got for his birthday. I just haven't had the energy for that sort of venture yet. Not to mention, once it comes out of that little box, it's never going back in. We will have it out before the end of Summer though!

Look at the size of this thing!!! We regularly get zucchini of this size out of our garden. It's a little intimidating trying to cook with such a thing. I have a hard time thinking up what I can use that much zucchini for. I suppose I could always make enough zucchini bread for a small country but for our every day use, it's a bit much!
Onward to the home projects:

Meet Billy. No, I didn't not name the new bookcases which I love. Ikea named them and that's just what we always call them now. And boy are we happy Billy came into our lives. Our nasty, cheap-o, saggy shelved bookcases have been banished to the basement to serve their purpose there. Now we have these lovelies to replace them and oh are they even more grand in person! I re-organized my scrap area the other day in the hopes it could look prettier next to these stunning storage gurus. Although it's much much better, I can't make all the clutter go away so we'll just be living with it the way it is for now. But I don't care, cause we have Billy!

Meet the basement. Still a basement but a new and improved version.

We took one side of the basement, cleared it out, and created a space for Brandon to change for work as well as a work out area. We also cleaned out the other side of the basement and it's all nice and organized. We can't wait until our bulk trash pick up comes on Monday to haul away all the unusable junk and then Amvets comes later in the week for all the donated stuff.

Curtains I made for the windows to allow for a little privacy when B changes for work. Cause you know, there are often people just strolling by the side of our house at night!

In these photos you can see B's new wardrobe from Ikea that he built. He also took a TV and one of our DVD players and hooked it up on the entertainment center.

To Gavin's big boy room we go!

Gavin wanted to be involved in getting his room all set for him to move into. He volunteered his painting services. We politely declined. He did however help daddy with some of the building of furniture. Help from a 2 year old is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes it's more of a hinderance but if the little guy belived he was helping, it was worth it. He calls himself a "big helper" now whenever he assists us with tasks. He helped change the laundry the other day. I gave him the wet clothes and he placed them all in the dryer. "Big helper!" he said. Indeed my dear boy, indeed.

What a big boy! He loves helping his daddy!

This photo cracks me up! You have to wonder what was going through the little fella's head. "Geeps, I'm glad that's over." "Finally Daddy figured it out, I thought I'd have to do it myself."
"Must I really pose for another picture???" "Holy cow mom! I'm getting to be such a big boy and I can't believe I helped daddy put together my table!"

Gav trying out the new bed for nap time. He did okay after we got him all settled in and made a couple of trips into his room. His new nightlight is on the table stage left. It's a very cool little light. It's LED so it doesn't get hot. It sits on a charger all day long and then stays lit all night. There are several colors and then a color changing mode where it constantly changes color.

Gav still has plenty of room on his bookshelf and in his dresser. We need to get some stuff up on the walls but we haven't found what we're looking for yet.

Above: the new bed with sports bedding and bed rails.
Below: the window with his Mickey Mouse table and chairs at the end of the bed. Thanks Aunt J! At the top of the picture you can see the sports fan pulls we got for his ceiling fan. One is a basketball the other a baseball.

And we finally left the house for something other than shopping for Gav's room! Amen! We went to the Conservatory to see Chihuly today. It was beautiful.

Gav and Daddy checking out a display on the wall.

Please excuse anything that may not make sense here. It's 1:15 am and I am at work and not in my bed where my brain argues that I should be. Thank you.
