You didn't think I meant Christmas did you? No way! It's back to school! Finally we have some peace around our house during the week when the two minions are separated from each other. The two of them fight constantly and being in the sardine box doesn't help.

Gavin started at his new school almost a month ago. At open house night he sat in the car and refused to get out. I thought we were in serious trouble with the school transition. I finally got him out of the car and after we walked into his new school and he realized that the layout is exactly the same as his old school, just reversed, he was happy.
We bought him a new t-shirt at open house night and he wore it on the first day of school.
Abby wasn't feeling particularly cooperative for photos. Please, remove the shocked look from your faces, I know that it is very surprising that the Little Miss would not be cooperative. She was partly distracted by Gummy. Who is Gummy? He's the T-Rex she has in her hand that she got at Kings Island the week before. We have no idea why she named him Gummy.
Time to get on the...bus? No bus yet this year. We are driving Gavin from our temporary location until we move to the house and he will then be able to ride the bus. Thank goodness.
We arrived at school and I was nervous. I thought we were going to be on for a fight and Gavin would be in tears. Several people were walking their children into the school. We hear from the back seat, "You are dropping me off. You are not walking me in." What?! I was stunned. He insisted he would be fine and did not need to be walked to his classroom. We pulled up, snapped some pictures and off he went.
I was certain that when I picked him up from school there would be tears. There were none. In fact, Gavin was happy. He said he loved his new school and had even made some new friends. He seems to have adjusted just fine to being at a new school. Remaining in his Cub Scout Pack may have helped with some of this. He still gets to be friends with his closest buddies from his old school and sees them weekly at the Den meetings.
Little Miss Sassy Pants was eager to start school herself. She went back for her final year of preschool last week.
Both kiddos need to be at school at the same time. Brandon takes Abby to preschool and I take Gavin to school.
Girlfirend has some gorgeous eyes!
What is this photo about exactly? See Abby with Zachary chatting with Zachary above? She and Zachary are buddies from last year. Apparently they walk out of the classroom holding hands every day. She has assured us though that they are just friends. Why are they just friends? You would think it's because she is four and has no idea what boyfriends are about and shouldn't know what boyfriends are about. Unfortunately, no that isn't the reason she gives. She is just friends with Zachary because Grady is her boyfriend, according to her of course. Grady is one of Gavin's friends from Cub Scouts. He has a younger sister that Abby pals around with. The big question is, does Grady know he has a self-professed girlfriend? Even if he did know, I highly doubt a nearly 8 year old would care.
Drew and Jen's daughter, Olivia, is in Abby's class this year. When I got up the afternoon of Abby's first day of school she informed me that she had seen "Uncle" Drew and, "He brought you and daddy together!"
Abby was the happy helper the first day of school. She loves being the happy helper. As for why she is wearing her headband on her forehead, we have no idea why she does this.
We are getting back into the swing of the school year around here among the other bazillion things we have going on.
Have a great rest of the week.
