Abby's First Birthday
Good morning birthday girl! We went in Abby’s room on her first birthday armed with cameras! I think she was a little confused for a second but she quickly turned to all smiles.
We dressed her in a “My 1st Birthday” shirt and some super cute jeans.
Abby had a delicious breakfast of eggs, banana, yogurt, and toast. She didn’t want a thing to do with her little pieces of banana but she loved taking bites of the big piece of banana. After all, she is a big girl now.
Shortly after breakfast we opened presents. Abby seemed more interested than Gavin was when he was one year old. But holding true to her age group she seemed to appreciate the wrapping more than the gift itself.
Gavin was a helpful big brother.
Lucky guy received some big brother gifts for his little sister’s birthday. He was so excited.
Abby enjoyed checking out her new toys once we put the wrapping away.
Although Abby didn’t care all that much, we went to House of Japan for dinner.
We were trying to get a picture of the siblings together but there wasn’t a whole lot of cooperation by the end of the day.
The next day was Abby’s first birthday party. The weather was beautiful but not quite nice enough to allow for some time outside.
Abby had some chicken, cheese, and yogurt for lunch. She loves her chicken!
Between lunch and gift opening time Abby played with Gavin and his friend Evan (not pictured).
Gavin was again quite helpful with the gift opening.
He even got to open a few gifts of his own!
Daddy had to help to keep things moving along.
She did not want to put down this little pink bow that came on her gifts from Grammy and Poppy.
Cake time!
Abby really wasn’t sure what to make of the cake.
In fact, she nearly dumped the whole thing from her highchair.
“What is this stuff???”
Once I was able to get her to take a few tastes of icing off my finger she became quite interested in the delicious treat!
Unlike her brother who barely touched his cake on his first birthday (and still prefers ice cream to cake), Abby ate nearly the entire piece of cake.
I had to cut her off once she reached this last sugary bit of cake that was mostly icing.
It took three of us to clean her up, one to hold her and two to wash her hands. Amazingly, she didn’t get any cake on her dress.
I’d say she had a great birthday!
