Let's start with Grandpa Y's visit. He brought a whole group of folks with him this visit which included Lillian, Amy, and Grandma.
Here we are opening gifts before I have to gallivant off to work for the afternoon. Little Buddy was tired and ready for lunch and a nap. He was none to keen on getting into this awesome wagon Grandpa got for him. Eventually he warmed up to it though and started putting things into it.
It's safe to say he was overwhelmed with the gifts. Little fella got some loot!
Brandon with a snazzy new pullover from Uncle Ralph and Aunt Sue.
Grandma opening some gifts.
The YANKANINS!!!!!
Grandpa, Gav, and B in front of the tree.
Story time with Grandpa!
Now we're up to Grandma Y and Aunt Ashley's visit. They braved the weather and made it in without incident. In fact, no weather until the ice hit the last part of their drive. Ick!
Dinner at Marcella's on December 23. Fridge was packed with Christmas Eve and Christmas food, there was no way I could store anything else in it to eat in the days leading up to Christmas. So, out we went!
Gav looking like a teenager who is really annoyed that a)Dad's hugging on him in public and b) Grandma is taking his picture. Although neither of these are likely true, it's still funny.
After dinner we went out to Alum Creek for the light show. They have Christmas lights all over the place. In case it isn't clear from the pictures, it was FREEZING! We're talking bone chilling cold. We got out to go into this little shop that had Santa there. We never saw Santa who must have been hiding around a corner, the shop was packed with junk and strange people, and just to find all of that out we had to walk over the slippery sidewalk in the bitter cold. Ick. But, the lights were awesome so that was good.
Christmas Eve:
Grandma, Ashley, and Gavin in front of the tree.
So here's a story for ya. B might kill me for it but whatev. So B wants to have tradition with Gavin. Okay good. I'm all for it, when he understands it! Brandon wanted to set out cookies, milk, and carrots for the reindeer. After we read Night before Christmas and Gavin had written his letter to Santa, Brandon plopped him into his booster seat at the table and put out the food and milk. Little fella thought he was getting a treat. Poor little guy was very upset when he was removed from his chair and taken up to bed without receiving the treat he saw before him. I repeatedly chastised Brandon for this and of course he was totally peeved with me but oh well. The babe is just too young to understand what was going on so it was upsetting for him. In a few years when he'll understand, I'm game for setting the tradition.
Ahhh yes Christmas morning....Gav once again had a ton of stuff to open!!! He was a bit more excited this time as he was coming off a night's rest but he did require a snack and milk since we hadn't had breakfast yet. We had to help with plowing through the gifts as the little man is a bit gentle with the wrapping paper.
So Ash said to me something to the effect of "you're going to kill me when you see what I got him." Oh no. That statement invokes fear in a parent. Is it going to be loud or annoying or what. Turns out, it's just big. Really big. It's a ball pit. Gavin loves it. He has a great time playing it. We just have to keep it in the basement because a) I don't want what's left of my living room taken up by a ball pit and b) I have two cats who have front and rear claws. They'll bust the thing first chance they get! So...when it's not in use, to the basement it goes until the next time we haul it out for Gav to play around in.
Another toy...the vacuum!!! He loves the vacuum for some reason and now he has his own. Here he is doing his part to help clean up the house and help mommy.
Finally, here he is on his couch. Grandma Y got him a fold out couch with a built in sleeping bag. He lounges on it. I made sure to give him his remote that Aunt J got for him while he was having a snack watching some Sprout.
We had a great Christmas with everyone and now it's back to life as usual. Time to get used to a new work schedule with the new year and that sort of thing. Still working on thank you notes. If you're owed one, it's coming...eventually! Hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday!
